In 2022, AES’ TPP in Galabovo generated a record amount of electricity

Every tenth KWh of electricity consumed in Bulgaria was produced by the most advanced coal-fired power plant in the country.

In 2022, AES’ TPP in Galabovo provided a record amount of electricity for Bulgarian consumers. Last year, the two units of the most advanced coal-fired TPP in Bulgaria generated over 3,561,665 MWh of electricity. This has been the highest annual output since the power plant was commissioned in 2011. The energy generated by AES’ TPP in Galabovo in 2022 was around 8% more than the output in 2021. Thus, the power plant provided 9% of the total electricity consumed in Bulgaria. In this way, in 2022 every tenth KWh of electricity consumed in the country was generated by AES’ TPP in Galabovo by using Bulgarian lignite coal.

In December 2022 alone, the power plant provided over 310,263 MWh of electricity, which equals the average monthly consumption of about 1 million households.
