March 1, 2021
The symbols of spring crafted by the children made the President, the Prime Minister, and the heads of institutions in Bulgaria happy
For the thirteenth consecutive year, AES Bulgaria has organized a competition for the masterful making of martenitsas among the children from Galabovo Municipality. This year, 410 children from 22 classes of all schools in the municipality joined the competition of talents.
AES Bulgaria provided all participants with the materials needed – wool, yarn, beads, and other accessories, with which the children handmade traditional Bulgarian martenitsas, as well as works of art dedicated to Baba Marta. For yet another year, the children’s talent and imagination made it difficult for the jury to choose among the most beautiful and masterfully crafted martenitsa. This year, the winner is II B grade of ‘Hristo Botev’ Primary School – Galabovo. The grand prize for all children in the winning class is a one-day trip to one of Bulgaria’s 100 national tourist sites, which is provided by AES Bulgaria. All other participants in the art contest dedicated to Baba Marta received delicious mini cakes and prizes.
The beautiful martenitsas and works of art, made by the Galabovo children, and dedicated to the first day of March, were presented by the management of AES Bulgaria to President Rumen Radev, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, and other heads of state institutions and organizations.
For all those 13 years of its organization, around 5000 children have participated in the competition for the most beautiful martenitsa.
The creative competition for making martenitsas is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility program of AES Bulgaria, and is aimed at preserving Bulgarian traditions and customs and promoting the development of children’s talent in Galabovo. The total investment of AES Bulgaria in various CSR projects for the benefit of the communities where the company operates in the country amounts to nearly BGN 15 million.
