AES Bulgaria continues to apply stringent anti-COVID 19 measures to guarantee its employees’ health and the energy security of the country

TPP AES Galabovo and St. Nikola Wind Farm generated a total of 86 966 MWh of energy for the Bulgarian customers during the third week of the state of emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic
AES Bulgaria continues to apply stringent measures to guarantee the work of its employees in safe and healthy working conditions regarding the COVID-19 spread. Access to the territory of TPP AES Galabovo and St. Nikola Wind Farm is forbidden for persons who are not directly involved in the process of power generation to reduce the risk for the health of the employees who provide a continuous production cycle with their works at the two power plants.
Meanwhile, in the third week of the state of emergency in Bulgaria due to the coronavirus pandemic, TPP AES Galabovo and St. Nikola Wind Farm generated together 86 966 MWh of energy for the Bulgarian customers, which represents 11,5% of the energy consumed in this period in Bulgaria.
Between March 30 and April 5, 2020, TPP AES Galabovo, the most advanced TPP in the Balkans, generated 76 854 MWh of energy. This is 10,2% of the total energy consumed in this period in Bulgaria.
For the same period, the largest wind farm in Bulgaria, St. Nikola, provided 10 112 MWh of clean energy for the Bulgarian customers, which represents 1,3% of the energy consumed in Bulgaria between March 30 and April 5, 2020.

For that reason, we make all efforts to continue guaranteeing energy security, providing energy for the Bulgarian customers and at the same time we limit the risk for our employees’ health. We believe that only with common efforts and responsibility we can overcome all this and return soon to the normal way of life’, said Ivan Tzankov, Managing Director of AES Bulgaria.
