AES Bulgaria is the winner in the Large Corporate Category of the AmChampion Awards

AES Bulgaria is the winner in the Large Corporate Category of the AmChampion Awards of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria. The awarding ceremony was held during the Annual Meeting of the Chamber and its members with the U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Herro Mustafa. The award was given to Ivan Tzankov, Executive Director, AES Bulgaria by Tony McMurray, Board Member.

The Amercian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria stated that AES is the biggest investor in Bulgaria over the last 20 years, and it contributes to the stabilization of the energy system and enhances the energy independence of the country through its diversified portfolio. It added that, being a member since 2000, AES Bulgaria has been heavily engaged with all Chamber’s activities, including events, committee meetings, and communication channels. The company has been very active in the Energy and Mineral Resources Committee, having a co-chair position.

AES Bulgaria operates TPP AES Galabovo, which is the most modern coal-fired plant in South East Europe. The total amount of energy produced by TPP AES Galabovo for the first 11 months of the year is almost 2 950 000 MWh. The company owns also St. Nikola Wind Farm, which is the largest wind farm in the country. From the start of the year till late November, the 52 turbines of the farm have generated 285 000 MWh of electricity. This once again demonstrates the key role of TPP AES Galabovo and St. Nikola Wind Farm for the Bulgarian energy security and the stability of the energy system of the country.
