AES presented some of its Corporate Social Responsibility programs at a roundtable in Stara Zagora

The General Manager of AES Bulgaria Mr. Olivier Marquette emphasized the importance of business development for the local community

The main corporate social responsibilities programs of AES Bulgaria were presented by the General Manager of AES Bulgaria at the “U.S.-Bulgaria Economic Partnership for More Business Opportunities” Roundtable co-organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, the U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria, and Municipality of Stara Zagora. The event was hosted at the Stara Zagora Municipal Hall.
In his presentation Market stressed the importance of business development for the local community. He noted that the company is actively working with the municipality of Galabovo and neighboring villages, continuously implement programs aimed at raising the educational level of local people. Education and improvement of various skills that can make people more competitive in the labor market are among the core values, which have become our policy, stressed Marquette

The importance of the CSR Programs for the development of local communities was the main point in the presentation of Managing Director for AES Bulgaria Olivier Marquette. He pointed out that the company was working actively with the Municipality of Galabovo and the neighboring villages by constantly carrying out programs aimed at improving the education level of local people. Education and the improvement of various skills that can make people more competitive on the labor market are among the values underlying our policy, Marquette underscored. AES provides an annual average of more than BGN 50,000 for various education initiatives in the region. In addition, the company works to improve the infrastructure and has so far invested more than BGN 3 million in rehabilitation projects.  That’s how since 2006 the company has invested nearly BGN 7 million in social projects in the municipality. Another large project of AES in the municipality of Galabovo is starting in March: the rehabilitation of the Youth Center in the town, where more than BGN 4.4 million will be invested. This is the largest public-private initiative in the region, Olivier Marquette underscored. “Improving the quality of life of the local community is part of the values of AES Corporation. We want to be a good corporate citizen and act with responsibility towards the community and the environment. That is our priority and a core value!” AES director pointed out.
