Planting 60 trees AES Employees in Bulgaria celebrated the Corporation’s Values Day

On October 27th, 2015 teams of AES Bulgaria employees planted 60 trees in the cities of Sofia, Galabovo and Kavarna. The trees are donation for the people, living in the cities where AES is developing its business in Bulgaria. The charity initiative was organized as part of the Values Day – the day which not only unites all AES’ people around the globe, but also creates our identity and distinguishs us and have people to reflect on the core values of the company. The event brought together full support from the local municipalities and communities.

“Values are very important in our everyday work, they are in my mind every single day and I use them as a powerful guide to take business decisions”, said Olivier Marquette, CEO of AES Bulgaria, who planted the first tree in Sofia.  We discussed the five values of our company: Putting Safety First, Acting with Integrity, Honoring Commitments, Striving for Excellence and Having Fun through Work, which are the very core of our ability to improve lives in the communities we serve and execute on our strategy.

Vesselin Gentchev, Legal and compliance manager, who participated in the Values Day in Galabovo, shared that the true values do not change. “In general, true values are a universal concept and apply across the whole spectrum of societies and countries. While some societies place greater emphasis on certain values than others, moral values such as integrity, strive for excellence and respect for others are greatly appreciated across the entire world and help to keep it in one piece.”

Despite of the cold autumn day AES people worked with enthusiasm and passion, proving once again that we “are the energy” that moves our company forward.
