August 28, 2019
The most advanced coal power plant in Bulgaria operates in full compliance with the environmental standards and conditions of the IPPC permit
Unit 1 of TPP AES Galabovo successfully passes the planned annual maintenance. Maintenance to the most advanced coal power plant in Bulgaria started on August 11, 2019. Maintenance works are completed on time. As part of the running maintenance, the equipment and systems of Unit 1 are undergoing preventive maintenance to ensure reliable and safe operation during the coming autumn and winter season. Maintenance is expected to be completed by August 30, 2019.
As of September 1, the maintenance campaign of TPP AES Galabovo will continue with Unit 2. The power capacity will be decommissioned for the period until September 28, 2019. Maintenance works of both units are part of the preparation of TPP AES Galabovo for the winter season.
TPP AES Galabovo is the most up-to-date coal plant in Bulgaria, providing about 10% of the country’s electricity. The plant is in full compliance with the environmental standards and conditions of the IPPC permit. Due to its technological flexibility, the plant was used 8200 hours in primary control mode last year, and the average annual duration of secondary control is 13 700 hours. This once again shows the key importance that TPP AES Galabovo has for the country’s energy system.
