TPP AES Galabovo is fully prepared for work in winter conditions. This was established by the Minister for Energy Temenuzhka Petkova, who together with her deputy Krasimir Parvanov and other ministry experts inspected the plant today. Minister Petkova’s visit was part of the inspection of energy producers’ preparations. On site, she checked whether the requirements set in the Fuel Reserve Regulations have been met, which should guarantee the reliable and continuous production of electricity.
According to the Ordinance, TPP AES Galabovo is obliged to provide 280,000 tonnes of coal, and at the moment the Plant has a stock of over 450,000 tonnes, said Todor Belezhkov, Plant Manager for AES Bulgaria. Apart from adhering to the Regulations, our Plant exceeds the reserves requirements for plants operating with coal by over 50%, added Belezhkov.
“Last winter, AES were very well prepared and provided the necessary electricity. I am confident that this year will be the same”, said Minister Petkova after reviewing the documentation and actual coal reserves in the plant.
“TPP AES Galabovo is fully prepared for the winter season. Once again AES has proven its role as a key factor in ensuring the stability of energy supply in the country”, added Ivan Tzankov, Managing Director of AES Bulgaria.
TPP AES Galabovo is the newest and most modern Thermal power plant in Bulgaria and is of vital importance for the security of energy supply in the country. During the prolonged cold spell in January 2017, TPP AES Galabovo worked at full capacity in order to sustain the energy system and avoid power outages. In this case, AES Galabovo produced around 10% of the total electricity for January 2017 and registered a production reliability rate of over 99%.
